Buying a laptop is quite an overwhelming decision. We help you narrow down the (many) options with this tell-all laptop comparison chart!

Are you looking to buy a new laptop, but aren’t sure which one to choose?

Buying a new laptop can be a daunting process. From size to budget to screen quality, there’s a lot that needs to be taken into consideration. If you’re not sure where to start your laptop buying journey, you’ve come to the right place.

Check out this laptop comparison chart to discover everything you need to know about the best laptops on the market.

1. Lenovo Yoga C640

Easily one of the best laptops on the market today is the Lenovo Yoga C640. This is a 2-in-1 laptop, meaning the screen can be flipped to change it into a tablet.

The Lenovo Yoga C640 has an attractive and flexible design, a long battery life, 512 GB of storage, and 8 GB of RAM. This makes it a perfect laptop for those who need something for everyday tasks, such as email and social media browsing.

Another great thing about this laptop is that it only weighs three pounds, and it can last the entire day without an AC adapter. If you want extra security, you’ll also be happy to know that this laptop comes with a fingerprint reader for logging in.

The Lenovo Yoga C640 also comes with an active pen for when you want to switch to the tablet version. The only major downside to this laptop is that because of the integrated Intel graphics, you can’t use it for heavy video editing or gaming.

2. Lenovo Thinkpad T490

Another Lenovo laptop we had to include on this list is the Lenovo Thinkpad T490. If you’re looking for something that’s a bit more professional and business-like, this is the laptop for you.

This laptop boasts an iconic design, reliable hardware, and durability that will last you many years. It’s also for sale at a very reasonable price, and its 14-inch bright display screen makes this laptop the perfect choice for all kinds of users.

The Lenovo Thinkpad T490 is also known for having a superior keyboard and touchpad, discrete graphics, excellent build quality, and long battery life.

The only real downside to this laptop is that while it does offer an HD display, it’s not of the highest quality. For the price of the laptop, the colors are a bit muted.

3. Lenovo Chromebook Duet

Another excellent laptop to consider is the Lenovo Chromebook duet. While at first glance it looks a bit like a journal, once you open it up, you’ll realize you have yourself a small laptop with a 10.1-inch colorful display.

However, this laptop’s transformative capability is just one of its many alluring features. This laptop can last close to 13 hours once fully charged, which beats out the average runtime of 10 hours for most Chromebooks by a landslide.

If you’re on a budget, this is also another great laptop to consider, as it comes in at just a little under $300. In addition to a solid performance and colorful display, the Lenovo Chromebook Duet also features a 128 GB of eMMC flash storage and a built-in kickstand.

If you’re a traveler, this is an excellent laptop to consider, as it can be propped right up onto an airplane tray table. Because of its small size and affordable price, this also makes an excellent laptop for kids who are interested in light streaming, web browsing, and gaming.

However, there are some downsides to consider with this laptop. Perhaps the biggest issue is that the keyboard can feel a bit cramped to some. If you do a lot of typing, this may not be the best laptop for you. The Lenovo Chromebook Duet also doesn’t come with a memory card or headphone jack, and it only has one USB port.

4. Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon

The Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon is the perfect laptop for those who are looking for something with lightweight construction and an excellent keyboard and display. This laptop also comes with an excellent track record, having racked up more rave reviews and awards than nearly any other laptop on the market.

It comes with a 14-inch display screen and MIL-STD 810G keyboard that can withstand extreme environmental conditions, vibrations, and shock. Surprisingly though, this laptop only weighs 2.4 pounds. However, unlike some other ultralight laptops on the market, the Lenovo Thinkpad does not feel flimsy.

The biggest downside to this laptop is that it doesn’t come with an SD or microSD slot.

5. Apple Macbook Air 2020

Of course, no laptop comparison chart would be complete without mentioning at least one Apple product. While Apple offers a lot of great laptops, one of the best ones they have available now is the 2020 Macbook Air.

If you’re loyal to Apple, this is perhaps the best laptop you can buy for your money. The 2020 Air comes with a sharp retina display, 10th generation Intel processors, and a new scissor-switch keyboard. While the base configuration is available for just under a grand, if you have the extra money, we recommend upgrading to the Core i5 processor model.

Another great thing about the Macbook Air is that it boasts the same new-and-improved keyboard that the 16-inch Macbook Pro comes with. With its fingerprint scanner, this laptop also offers easy payment and login authentication.

Another major benefit of the Macbook Air is that it can be configured with three different Y-series chips. The biggest issue with the Macbook Air is that it can slow down a bit when faced with heavy workloads that need to run for long periods of time. For example, if you need to export a video or render a graphic, you may run into some delays.

Another downside is that this laptop only offers about 5 hours of battery life per charge cycle. But, this is if you have the laptop screen on maximum brightness. Dim the screen, and you’ll probably get a couple of more hours out of your Macbook Air.

However, despite these downsides, the Macbook Air is well worth the money due to its excellent display, design, and performance.

6. Apple Macbook Pro 16-Inch

If the Macbook Air doesn’t suit your needs, then you may want to consider the 16-Inch Apple Macbook Pro. This Macbook Pro is great for those who want as much power as possible and who want a laptop that runs like a desktop (in the best way possible).

Users had a lot of complaints about the previous Macbook Pro’s keyboard, but luckily, Apple took these complaints to heart, and the new Macbook Pro boasts the best keyboard to date.

In addition to an improved keyboard, the Macbook Pro also comes with an excellent retina display, a large touchpad, superb audio quality, and SSD options for up to 8TTB.

The biggest downside to this laptop is its price. The most affordable version you can find starts around $2400. But, if you’re a software developer, music producer, or someone else with demanding mobile-compute needs, the Macbook Pro is well worth your money.

But, you also want to keep in mind that this laptop doesn’t come with a microSD slot, and as is the case with other Apple laptops, it doesn’t have a touchscreen.

7. Dell XPS 15

Another laptop that we couldn’t leave off this list is the Dell XPS 15. Somehow, Dell managed to make this laptop version 5.5% smaller than its predecessor, yet its keys and touchpad are significantly larger.

In addition to a stellar 4K OLED display, this laptop also comes with a quality build, excellent battery life, strong gaming capabilities, and a wide range of configuration options. This is really a jack of all trades laptop that performs well on everything from office-centered tasks to video streaming.

The biggest downside to this laptop is that the touchpad can be somewhat finicky. And, while a basic model will cost you around $1149, depending on the configurations you get, you could easily end up paying close to $3000 for this laptop. However, most people don’t need these high-end parts, so you should be fine with the basic model.
